Back to the sand pit

After the weekend's Wembley glory I went off to Gresty road with my dad tonight fully anticipating a buoyant Crewe Alexandra to rip Brentford apart.  If only Crewe could play on the Wembley turf every week they would surely be top of the league but unfortunately the pitch currently resembles Rhyl beach having been subjected to snow, ice and waterlogging over the last few months and this really does not suit Crewe's playing style.  Brentford bossed a 2-0 win much to the delight of their 300 fans who easily out shouted over 4000 in the home crowd who barely raised above a buzz of general chattering but then that's always been the way with the Alex fans.  Overall still an entertaining game and we can't expect little Crewe to produce the heights of wembley glory every time.
